New candles from the Natural Light Candle Co.
We now sell a wide range of candles from the Natural Light Candle Co. in Bali, including:
- Cupcakes: $10.00 each or 3 for $26.00
- Fruit baskets: $25.00
- Scented candles in silver tins shaped as Balinese offering baskets, small: $28.00, medium: $38.00. These are ideal for travelling as you can simply replace the lid after use.
- Beautifully carved pillar candles in the Damask design, both scented and unscented. Fragrances include bombay wood spice, frangipani and green tea.
Yankee Candles promotion
Yankee Candles are high quality candles made in the US from premium grade paraffin. The fragrance oils are mixed into the wax to ensure the scent lasts for the entire candle. We are currently running a promotion on the Yankee Candle scented sampler candles: 3 for $9.90 (usual price: $4.90 each). The aromatherapy samplers are 3 for $11.90 (usual price $5.90 each).
Pillar candles
Also known as ‘block’ candles, pillar candles come in all sorts of colours, finishes and sizes:
- Over-dipped: these candles have a smooth finish and come in an extensive range of bright, bold, solid colours. Sizes from 6x8cm to 8x20cm.
- Rustic: these candles are through-coloured, with a matt lime washed finish. The colours are earthier and more toned down than the over-dipped pillar candles. We stock ‘organ type’ rustic candles in the following sizes: 7x12/20/30cm and 3-wicked rustic candles in 15x10/20cm.
- Rainbow: these are through-coloured candles which fade from one colour to another, with or without a cracked, egg shell effect. Both types come in single and multiple wicks, in sizes from 6x6cm to 16x18cm.
- Church candles: these are candles made of 100% stearin, which is wax made of extracts of plants, (usually palm oil.) The advantage of stearin is the higher melting point which makes the candles slower burning with a more quiet flame and pleasant smell. These candles should be suitable for people with most common allergies. Stearin church candles come in white only, in the following sizes: 8x15, 20 and 30cm.
- Outdoor: outdoor candles have a thicker, hemp wick which is better suited for draughts. We only stock outdoor candles in cream, size 15x30cm.

Stick Candles
Stick candles can either be tapered or straight and we stock a good selection of both:
- Tapered candles: these candles get their name from their distinct shape - slightly narrower at the tip than the base. They are also known as dinner candles. The base has a standard size of approximately 2cm. We sell the following types of tapered candles:
- Pairs: hand dipped, with one wick that you need to cut before lighting. We sell them in the following lengths: 25/35/45cm.
- 8-pack: 100% stearin through-coloured, in basic colours such as white and cream and seasonal colours. 26cm in length.
- 2-pack: in gold and silver for that special occasion. 26cm in length.
- Flower-candle: long, thin candles sold in boxes of 10 pieces in the following size: 1.2x30cm.
- Birthday cake candles: tiny pair candles, similar to the larges ones, which are perfect for cakes. Sold in the following size: 0.5x8cm.
- Non-tapered: we also like to call them ‘crown candles’ because of the shape of the tip. They are heat moulded and have a nice smooth finish. These candles come in many colours and both bright and earthy tones. The length is 25cm and the base is approximately 2cm in diameter.

Scented candles
Scented candles are great to help you relax and to create a special mood. How much scent the candle gives off will depend both on the size of the candle and the size of the room. We stock scented candles in many different shapes and sizes, such as:
- Tea lights: regular (burning time about 4 hours) and large (burning time about 10 hours)
- Pillar
- Container candles: in decorative glass holders or tins

As candles come in an almost endless variety of shapes, sizes, qualities and colours, we only carry a fraction of what’s available. In addition to the categories above, we also sell the following types of candle:
Tea lights
Tea lights are cylindrical, usually white, often in a thin metal ‘cup’ and liquefy completely when lit. Tea lights should always be placed in a suitable container. At Scandic Wonders we sell the following tea lights:
- Regular: burning time approximately 4 hours. Our regular size tea lights come in bags of 20 pieces in all colours of the rainbow, which makes them beautiful in any tea light holder. They will also float in water. We stock 100% stearin tea lights in white only. We also have a small selection of scented tea lights.
- Large: burning time approximately 10 hours. These are 5.5cm in diameter and come in a non-burning acrylic ‘cup’. We carry both scented and unscented in packs of 4.
Price range: $6.00 to $16.00.
Ball candles
These candles are shaped like a ball. We stock over-dipped ball candles in small (6cm), or large (8cm). Both are sold individually or you can buy the small ball candles in packs of 4. We also sell rustic and outdoor ball candles - try the citronella outdoor candles to keep the mosquitoes away.
Price range: $4.00 to $12.00.
Floating candles
These are convex at the bottom, which is the ideal shape to make them float in water. They are over- dipped and come in many bold and bright colours. We stock floating candles in 2 sizes: 4.5cm and 8cm.
Price range: $2.00 to $4.50.
Votives
A votive is a small cylindrical candle, designed to be placed in a ‘cup’ to hold the liquefied wax that results from burning. They come in 1 size, 4x5cm, and in a range of different colours.
Price range: $6 to $8.
Figurative candles
Our range of figurative candles includes spirals, squares and teardrops. We also stock seasonal figurative candles, such as Christmas trees and Easter Eggs!
